The objective of this project was to update International Paper Corp. spatial database for 512,000 acres based on current digital orthophotography. Features included property boundaries, forest stand boundaries, roads, streams, and lakes.
COGO, GPS, and DOQQ were used to assure a high level of accuracy and uniformity for the IP GIS. The basemap themes in this project included: transportation, hydrology, lakes, utilities, miscellaneous points, and soils. In addition, National Hydrological Data, 2001 Tiger data, and photo interpretation from DOQQ’s were used to supplement the existing data to created a comprehensive basemap. The IP GIS stand data theme was updated using the corrected property boundaries and photo interpretation by GRS foresters and technicians.
