Resource and Infrastructure GIS

GRS designed and implemented a GIS for the Trinidad Rancheria for use in managing natural resources and protecting water quality.

Existing source materials including paper maps and surveys, were reviewed for suitability and then prepared for conversion.   The basemap layers include topology, slope, aspect, property and assignment boundaries, roads, buildings and other improvements, coastline, significant natural features, and water quality data.  GPS control was the basis for establishing a geographic reference for all of the information contained in the GIS.  Aerial photographs were scanned and used to generate contours, roads, building outlines, gutters and curb backs.  Property surveys were conducted to verify property lines and boundaries.
