GRS is a Team GeoMedia member and has developed commands and
utilities to enhance the utility of GeoMedia's products. GRS has developed a suite
of utilities called GRSProMap that enhance the use and deployment of GeoMedia throughout
your organization. The GRSProMap utilities can be divided into two categories:
Operation Commands and Configuration Utilities.
GRSProMap Operation Commands
assist the user in the use and operation of GeoMedia and are used from within
GeoMedia.
- Buffer Selected Features is a simplified extension of GeoMedias
buffering capabilities. GeoMedias buffer creation only allows an entire
Feature Class or Query Set as input. Buffer Selected Features allows you to
select one or more point, line, or area features in the Map window and then immediately
create buffers.
- Digitize Legend Feature is a simplified method of selecting and digitizing
Features in GeoMedia. It allows you to simply click on a Feature Class in the Legend
Window, select this command, and digitize the feature. Once the Digitize
Legend Feature is started, you can simply click on other Legend entries and
immediately digitize them.
- Place Point places a points/plots grid in a sampling area at a
user-specified spacing. You can select the area to place the point/plots by
selecting an area feature from the map window.
- MapManager is a utility that allows the user to create and manage named map
compositions. It uses the GM named view concept to store and retrieve user-defined
map compositions. MapManager allows the user to retrieve the maps
with options for automatically retaining the same view area and scale, selecting a new
scale, and fitting the entire map extent.
GRSProMap Configuration
Utilities are used to customize the GeoMedia environment and to install
the Operation Commands. The Configuration Utilities are typically used by system
administrators to setup the environment for casual users
- InstallApps reads a user-defined command list file and installs custom
commands into GeoMedia. It allows a user to distribute and install (or uninstall) a
suite of custom GeoMedia applications. InstallApps runs outside of GeoMedia
eliminating the cumbersome process of the user installing each application individually.
- CustomMenu saves and installs custom GeoMedia menu configurations. CustomMenu
allows the user to establish a configuration file containing a custom menu including
custom commands. CustomMenu is used to distribute a completely customized
menu interface. It can be used to "tune down" GeoMedia for specific
applications or extend the Menus to include standardized custom applications.
- AddMenu adds menu items to the GeoMedia menu. AddMenu uses
the same file format as the CustomMenu command. The major difference between AddMenu
and CustomMenu is that the configuration file for AddMenu
should only contain the menu items that the user wants to ADD to GeoMedia.
- SetWarehouse is used to modify the warehouse connection paths within a
GeoMedia GeoWorkspace. When you move a GeoWorkspace to another computer, or a
Warehouse is moved to a different directory (folder), this invalidates the Warehouse paths
in a GeoWorkspace. SetWarehouse automatically edits the Warehouse
connections within a GeoWorkspace to point to the new directory location.
- AutoWarehouse provides the ability to automatically create subsets of
GeoMedia data sources and generate GeoMedia Access Warehouses for distribution to GeoMedia
users. AutoWarehouse automatically creates output Warehouses based
on user-defined extent and content. The process is controlled by a Master
GeoWorkspace. Within this GeoWorkspace, the Named Legends control the content and
Extent Feature Class controls the extent of each output Warehouse. For example,
using a county Feature Class you can create automatically create county-based Warehouses
from a state-wide data source.
